1.5 Months Down! Checking In on My 2025 Goals

Hi Friends!

I know I’ve been MIA for the last two weeks, but I have a good reason—I was on a work trip that pulled me away from my usual routine. But I’m back, refreshed, and ready to dive into this goal update with you all!

We’ve made it halfway through February! Can you believe it? That means it’s time for our first goal review of 2025. If you’re new here, welcome! My very first blog post, Goal Setting for 2025: Embracing Balance and Growth, walked through the goals Ian and I set for the year and how we approach them. Now, after a whirlwind January (and a bit of a chaotic work trip), it’s time to look back at how the first month of the year went. So, without further ado… drum roll, please! 🥁

January Reflections: The Wins and the Lessons Learned

Before I jump into the details, I just want to remind everyone how important it is to reflect on your goals monthly. This gives you the chance to reevaluate, refocus, and adjust based on what’s actually working. As much as I’d love to say I crushed all my goals, the reality is, some things need to be tweaked—and that’s okay! A big lesson for me has been realizing that I have a tendency to say YES to everything, but I’m working on setting better boundaries and being more intentional. So, I’ll be letting go of a few goals to make sure I’m focusing on what truly matters. Here’s the breakdown of what I’ve accomplished, what’s still in progress, and what’s getting the cut for 2025.

P = Physical

  • Goal: Average 10,000 steps per day
    • Outcome: ✅ My January average was 9,225 steps per day! Not quite 10k, but considering I had a week of the flu, I’m calling it a win. I’m proud of my consistency, and this goal stays for the year.
  • Goal: Complete each monthly Apple Watch challenge
    • Outcome: ✅ January challenge (22 workouts)—COMPLETE! 🎉
    • February challenge is on track – Close Move ring 21 times, with 10 days completed so far.
  • Goal: Lose 17 pounds
    • Outcome: ❌ Gained 3 pounds instead. Honestly, with our IVF journey ahead, I’ve decided this goal isn’t a priority for now. My focus will shift to tracking my nutrition—hitting 156g of protein a day while staying within 1,742 calories. More updates on this to come! I
  • Goal: Strength train 3x per week
    • Outcome: ✅ Completed, except for my sick week. Feeling strong and keeping this up!

W = Work

  • Goal: Obtain my PMP certification
    • Outcome: 🟡 Needs focus! February’s goal: Build a solid study plan.
  • Goal: Find a side hustle
    • Outcome: ❌ Decided this isn’t for me in 2025. Ian will take the lead on this one!

F = Financial️

  • Goal: Save $40,000
    • Outcome: No savings yet as we prioritized paying off credit card debt first.
  • Goal: Track our budget & review monthly
    • Outcome: ✅ Completed! Tracking was eye-opening, and February’s focus is building a realistic budget based on that data.
  • Goal: Pay off credit card debt
    • Outcome: ✅ COMPLETED! 🎉 Huge relief!
  • Goal: Save $3,500 for a vacation
    • Outcome: Not happening this year. With IVF ahead, we’re redirecting funds to medical expenses. Family first! ❤

R = Relational

  • Marriage
    • Goal: Plan an intentional date night each month
      • Outcome: ✅ January date night was Olive Garden—so simple but so lovely. For February, I want to get creative!
    • Goal: Share 6-second kisses daily
      • Outcome: ✅ Completed! 💋
  • Family & Friends
    • Goal: Foster God-honoring relationships
      • Outcome: Ongoing—always a priority!
    • Goal: Call parents & grandparents weekly
      • Outcome:
        • Grandparents: ❌ Missed this one, but aiming to call my Grandma every Monday from now on.
        • Parents: ✅ Completed!

I = Intellectual

  • Goal: Read 24 books (12 nonfiction)
  • Goal: Listen to a growth podcast/YouTube video 5x per week
    • Outcome: ✅ Completed!
  • Goal: Reflect daily as a couple (High, Low, Growth)
    • Outcome: ❌ Inconsistent—prioritizing this for February.
  • Goal: Conduct monthly goal reviews
    • Outcome: ✅ Completed! These check-ins are game-changers.

E = Emotional

  • Goal: Practice gratitude morning & night
    • Outcome: ❌ 50/50 on this one. My plan is to keep my journal right by my bed to improve consistency.
  • Goal: Respond, don’t react
    • Outcome: Ongoing! 🟡 Using a 10-second countdown before responding helps.
  • Goal: Celebrate wins daily
    • Outcome: Ongoing! 🟡 Learning to appreciate small victories.

S = Spiritual

  • Goal: Read the entire New Testament
    • Outcome: Making progress! I’ve completed two weeks in Matthew.
  • Goal: Complete 31 Days of Prayer During Infertility by Lisa Newton
    • Outcome: ❌ Missed in January, but Ian and I have decided to do it together in February & March.
  • Goal: Pray with Ian daily
    • Outcome: 🟡 5/7 days a week. We’re aiming for more consistency.
  • Goal: Find & attend a church in person
    • Outcome: 🟡 Watching Washington Heights Church online and planning to attend in person soon!

January was full of ups and downs, but overall, I’m feeling proud of the progress I’ve made—especially considering I was away for work! As I head into February, my focus is clear: refining my health goals, getting serious about my PMP exam, and deepening my spiritual and relational connections. It’s all about growth and balance. 🌱
